ULiege Fossil collections
We curate ULiege's collection of fossil animals and plants that have been gathered for two centuries, making it the largest public collection of fossils in Wallonia and second largest in Belgium. As such our collections extend from Ediacarian to Holocene and from tiny miospores to huge mammoth bones. Our collections house one of the largest collection of Carboniferous corals from all over the world, as well as extensive Devonian and Carboniferous plants, Quaternary cave mammals, Devonian vertebrates, Palaeozoic echinoderms and many fossil invertebrates from type-localities (Visé, Tournai, Maastricht, Frasnes, etc.). The collections are vividly used in several ways including as research, teaching, exhibition, heritage and other science outreach.
Slowly but steadily our collections are being numerised, and can be accessed for free here: donum.ulg.ac.be/simple-search?filterquery=fossils&filtername=type&filtertype=authority
